The Upward 2017-2018 season will be postponed due to new construction at Newton.
What is Upward?
Upward is a fun, reliable, passionate and encouraging sports experience for boys and girls, in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Upward provides first class, organized and detailed sports programming in basketball and cheerleading at Newton Baptist Church. Unique aspects of Upward include an evaluation system that promotes equal and competitive teams as well as a substitution system which allows for equal playing time for all participants.
Through Upward, children are exposed to quality coaching and sport development. Upward emphasizes character and integrity instead of a “win at all costs” mentality associated with today’s sports world.
Upward Basketball and Cheerleading at Newton Baptist Church began in the fall of 2008. The program is lead by a highly dedicated Upward Lead Team. Every member of this Lead Team, as well as all coaches and officials, are volunteers.
Each year we offer basketball and cheerleading beginning practice in December and concluding with our Celebration Night in late February. Our mission is to deliver a rewarding and enriching experience for all of our parents, coaches, volunteers and especially our children.
This ministry is always open to individuals who wish to be involved, please contact us for more information.
