Loving God requires a relationship with God. Our personal walk with the Father means taking time to be with Him; in prayer, in His Word, and just being alone with our Savior. As we learn to pray, as we learn God’s Word, we learn to walk with and to love God; we begin to be able to put love in action! We bring our love for God from our house to His house. We continue to strengthen our love for God through Sunday School, Men and Ladies Bible studies, Worship Services and the many other ministries at Newton Baptist Church. Our love for God leads us to the next step of action; putting others first.
Time and time again we look to our Lord, and we see His example of putting others first. From washing the disciples’ feet to taking our place on the cross may we never forget that Jesus put us first, and here at Newton Baptist Church it is our desire to follow His example by putting others first. The greatest commandment we have been given is to love our neighbor as ourselves, and may we always have a heart to serve, may we always have a love for people.
VISION FOR THE WORLD
At Newton Baptist Church, our vision for the world begins next door. From inviting neighbors in our community to church, supporting missionaries on the foreign field, to training, equipping and sending people from our church unto the uttermost parts of the earth, let us have a heartbeat and vision for the world. Our love for God moves us to put others first and in doing so our vision changes from an inward focus to an outward focus on reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we share a vision for the world we are no longer confined to a geographic location, but have a greater desire to share the gospel to every tribe and tongue worldwide.
Life is something to be enjoyed by the believer! As we learn to love God, we see that love for Him moves us to action by placing others first; our focus changes from ourselves to a vision for the world and without even trying, the Lord brings us to a place of contentment and service, and we then can truly begin to enjoy life. Our relationships become sweeter, our fellowships become deeper, and our serving one another becomes the evidence of our love for God and that itself brings such great joy within our lives!
